Chris Medlock
Christopher Medlock is a freelance writer, fiction author and blogger. For Suite101, he enjoys writing on politics, history and religion. In his fiction, Chris mostly enjoys writing various forms of science fiction, fantasy and gothic literature.
Although born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Chris was raised most of his life in a small southeastern Kentucky town. After high school, Chris attended Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky not too far outside of Lexington. Chris' official studies included biblical and theological studies, as well as ancient languages and philosophy. Much of his time was also spent in courses on history (particularly ancient and medieval Europe and the Near East) as well as writing and literature.
For recreation, Chris enjoys cooking, star-gazing, social smoking and drinking, hiking and camping. As a writer, Chris is also an avid reader and finds much inspiration from the fiction of giants such as Edgar Allen Poe, Charles Dickens, Isaac Asimov, Harper Lee, C.S. Lewis, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Flannery O'Connor, H.G. Wells, J.R.R. Tolkien and Madeline L'Engle. He also enjoys contemporary writers like Neil Gaiman, Chuck Palahniuk, George R.R. Martin and Orson Scott Card.
Chris currently lives in Lexington, Kentucky.
